Once unwanted and given away multiple times, Peppa found her final sanctuary with Cheryl’s family. Though they had sworn off dogs after a previous loss, Cheryl’s softhearted father couldn’t turn her away. Peppa was initially nervous, bad tempered, and noisy, but with love she flourished. Her defensive nature evolved into a fierce, protective love for her humans. As Peppa grew old and Cheryl’s father passed away, Cheryl became her main caregiver. The most moving testament to their bond was when Peppa waited for Cheryl to return from her honeymoon before she crossed the rainbow bridge.
